What is Personal Information?
"Personal Information" is any information that can reasonably be used to identify a natural person and may include, but is not limited to name, address, email address, phone number, login information (such as account number, password), social media account information, IP address, or payment card number.
Under California law, Personal Information may also include information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to a household.
What Information does Ciena collect?
Ciena does not sell or share Personal Information of those under 16 years old.

Sensitive Personal Information Collected
If you are a recruitment candidate, we collect the following categories of sensitive personal information. Ciena does not use this information for the purposes of inferring characteristics.
How long does Ciena retain my Personal Information?
We retain Personal Information we collect from you for as long as we have an ongoing legitimate business need to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements). When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your Personal Information, we will either delete or deidentify it or, if this is not possible (for example, because your Personal Information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your Personal Information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible. We will not attempt to re-identify deidentified data.
What Privacy Rights does California Law Recognize?
Under California law, the following rights relating to Personal Information are recognized:
- The right to know what Personal Information the business has collected about the consumer, including:
- the categories of Personal Information,
- the categories of sources from which the Personal Information is collected,
- the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing Personal Information,
- the categories of third parties to whom the business discloses Personal Information, and
- the specific pieces of Personal Information the business has collected about the consumer.
- The right to delete Personal Information that the business has collected from the consumer, subject to certain exceptions;
- The right to correct inaccurate Personal Information;
- The right to opt-out of sales or sharing.
- The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for the exercise of privacy rights conferred by the CCPA.

We will verify and respond to your request consistent with applicable law. We may need to request additional Personal Information from you in order to verify your identity and protect against fraudulent requests.
If you make a request to delete, we may ask you to confirm your request before we delete your Personal Information.
